Development
Week 25 has brought significant progress to the development of King For a Week.
First, the introduction of ranged weapons has been successful. This comes off the back of the completion of the conceptualization and final outlining of the combat system for the game. On this front, changes have been made to the weapons that the player will be carrying. The 3 configurations available to the player for the duration of the game will be the unarmed configuration (or gloves, if available), the melee configuration (comprised of a sword and a shield) and the ranged configuration (comprised of a bow and arrows).
Within each configuration multiple options will be given to the player, to allow them to experience combat as they see fit (multiple sword variants, shield, bows or longbows or crossbows, etc...)
More significant progress has been made concerning the outlining of the game, such as the complete definition of the game loop and the combat loop.
Moreover, the first considerable refactoring has also occured, mostly to adapt the current codebase to this final outlining of the combat and gameplay loop.
Moving forward, the completion of the implementation of ranged attacks is the number 1 priority. Beyond that, the implementation of all possible combat interaction tools will also be taking place (sword ports, explosives, arrow ports, etc...). Once all of the combat interactibles will be in place, there will be nothing to stop or inconvenience the development of the AI for the game (to be used for companions, enemies, etc....)
