Concerning Week 17 of development.

Development

Week 17 of development has been about the thorough debugging of the dialogue system.

In what has been one of the most painfull debugging processes I have ever done, the dialogue system now supports fully procedural "look at" functionality for all the NPCs in the dialogue.

Each NPC can look at any other NPC in the dialogue at any given time during a line (or even post-line, during options. Moreover, moral choices (a different UI for dialogue options in some specific cases), dialogue pausing for when the player gets too far from the NPCs they are adressing as well as set pieces (specific individual actions occuring at any given time during a dialogue such as VFX/SFX etc...) have all been implemented.

This marks the conclusion of the early implementation of the dialogue system, meaning that week 18's focus will be around the combat system and AI. Will be starting off with architectural specifications for both systems before proceding with the implementation.

Milestones

Dialogue system debugging and addition of advanced features (procedural look-at; moral choices, pausing, set piece implementation)

Concerns

The concerns from the previous week (related to pace of development) have been adressed. Happy to confirm that an additional 30-60 minutes have been found per day or every other day. No risk of burnout at the moment.

Media

A brand new Dev Gallery has been created for the development of King For A Week. New development GIFs have been added there.
